How to Connect AirPods to Mac and Windows PC

AirPods work best with the iPhone and iPad. The built-in chip automatically connects with an iPhone or iPad device when you remove the AirPods from the case and put them in your ears. But underneath all of Apple’s secret sauce, lies a layer of standard Bluetooth technology. So as long as your MacBook or PC supports Bluetooth 4.0 and higher, you should be able to use your AirPods with your computer. Here’s how to connect your AirPods to your MacBook or PC.

Note: The following steps will work for both first generation AirPods and second generation AirPods. To know the difference between them, check out our guide here.
How to Connect AirPods to Mac

Unlike a traditional Bluetooth device, AirPods actually pair using your iCloud account. When you first pair your AirPods to your iPhone, they’ll be paired automatically with every iOS and macOS device that’s on the same iCloud account. In theory, this means you don’t need to pair and repair AirPods again and again. You just click the Connect button and go from there. But this doesn’t always work. Let’s look at a couple of scenarios below.

If this is the first time you’re connecting your AirPods with your Mac after pairing them with the iPhone, go to the Bluetooth section in the menu bar to get started.

Open the AirPods case and you’ll see your AirPods listed in the devices menu. Click on them and then click on Connect. In a couple of seconds, your AirPods will be connected to your Mac and ready to go.
Pair AirPods to Mac

There are times when you’ll need to start the entire pairing process for AirPods on the Mac. This can either be if you’ve never paired the AirPods with an iPhone/iPad device, or if you’ve just reset the AirPods because they were giving you trouble.

In any case, here’s the process for pairing AirPods to Mac (MacBook).

Step 1: Open System Preferences and go to the Bluetooth section.

Step 2: Now open the AirPods case and press and hold the Round pairing button at the back of the AirPods case.

Step 3: In a couple of seconds, you’ll see the AirPods in the Bluetooth section. Click on the Connect button.

In a couple of seconds, the AirPods will be paired and connected to your MacBook.
Make the Mac Connection Process Simpler

Using AirPods on an iPhone is a much better experience as they connect automatically. On the Mac, you always have to go to the Bluetooth section to manually connect them. If you’re frustrated by the unreliable pairing experience, spend $5 on the AirBuddy app. It’s a little utility that brings iPhone style AirPods connection menu to the Mac.

When you open the AirPods near your Mac, a panel will slide down telling you the battery in the AirPods and you can click on the Connect button to automatically connect to them.

How to Connect AirPods to Windows PC

While AirPods do work on Windows PCs, they don’t support all functionality. For example, AirPods automatically pause playback when you remove one AirPods from the ear when using with a Mac or iPhone. This won’t happen on a Windows machine. But, as AirPods work with any Bluetooth 4.0+ device, they’ll still function as regular wireless headphones.

Here are the instructions for pairing AirPods with a Windows 10 computer.

Step 1: From the Windows taskbar, click on the Bluetooth button.

Step 2: Click on Add a Bluetooth Device.

Step 3: This will open the Bluetooth & Other Devices menu. From here, again, click on the button that reads Add Bluetooth or other device.

Step 4: Now, on the AirPods, open the case lid and press and hold on the Round pairing button at the back of the case.

Step 5: Back on the Windows computer, choose the Bluetooth option and wait for the AirPods to show up on the list.

Step 6: Click on the AirPods from the list to start the pairing process. In a couple of seconds, the pairing will be done and your AirPods will be connected to your Windows machine.
AirPods Tips and Tricks

AirPods are a seemingly simple device. But there’s a lot you can do with them. You can customize the gestures, the case and even add accessories to make them fit better. Read all about it in our complete AirPods tips and tricks guide.

Let us know in the comments section below as to how the entire experience of connecting AirPods to your Mac or PC was.

Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, Intends to Stay on Apple’s Board Despite Competing Streaming Services

Apple has its brand new Apple TV+ on the way. Disney just showcased Disney+, which launches on November 12 for just $6.99 per month. The two services are, technically, competing, but that is going to stop Disney’s CEO from sitting on Apple’s board for as long as it’s feasible.

Bog Iger has been serving as Disney’s chief executive officer for quite some time. He has also been serving on Apple’s board since 2011. However, the two companies haven’t been direct competitors up to this point. That’s changing with Apple TV+ and Disney+, but Iger says Apple’s direct-to-consumer business for videos and TV is still “very small”. Iger does recuse himself from conversations about Apple’s own original content streaming effort that take place on the board, but he says they’re haven’t been very many of those conversations.

However, Apple TV+ could be a huge success for Apple, and if it does blow up then Iger may have to reconsider his position on Apple’s board. It is a situation he is going to “continue to monitor” moving forward.

Here’s what he had to say during the interview with CNBC:

“Well, obviously, when you sit on the board of a publicly traded company, you have to be very mindful of your responsibilities. Fiscal responsibilities to the shareholders of that company, and I have been. When the business of direct-to-consumer or television or movies is discussed on the Apple board, I recuse myself from those discussions. There aren’t many of them. It’s still very small business to Apple. And I’m not at the point where I, you know, I believe it’s problematic. But it’s something that I have to continue to monitor.”

Disney+, as mentioned earlier, is launching on November 12 and will have a monthly price of $6.99 attached. Customers will also be able to pay $70 for a yearly subscription. It will have a variety of content from Disney’s ridiculously expansive library of content, including its own video library, thousands of episodes of television from Disney TV, and more. The streaming platform will also have dedicated hubs for owned properties, including Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and National Geographic.
Our Take

It makes sense that Iger wouldn’t want to abandon his post on the board of directors for Apple unless he absolutely has to. But it’s hard to imagine that Apple TV+ will find the success that Disney+ is basically already guaranteed before it even launches. Of course, some of us our hopeful that Apple TV+ does well and sees a lot of great content — just as long as the monthly price isn’t too high.

The procedure of hard resetting any android phone varies from one phone to another. The procedure to hard reset Samsung Galaxy S7 is as follows.

Step 1: Turn off your phone and wait for a little while, for a few seconds.

Step 2: Press these three buttons simultaneously and hold them: Volume Up, Power Button and Home Button.

Step 3: You can navigate through the options using the Volume Up and Volume Down button, and you can select using the Power Button.

How to Turn On Mono Audio for AirPods

Most people prefer listening to audio on their AirPods in stereo (where sound is fed through at least two channels). This requires listening to both AirPods to get the full dual-channel experience. But what if you only want to use one AirPod? You're going to miss out on the sounds coming through the other AirPod. Whether you have hearing loss in one ear, want to share the other AirPod with someone else, have misplaced one of your AirPods, or just want to keep one ear tuned in to what's going on around you, it's possible to make all the sound come out of one AirPod by enabling Mono Audio in your Accessibility Settings. Switching to this single channel setting means you'll be able to hear all the audio from either AirPod, so you can choose which AirPod to use.
